What happened at Northside this week?
2020
23rd August 2020
Covid safe plan uploaded to Home page, dancing will re-commence on the 4th February 2021.
16th March 2020
Dancing suspended due to Covid 19 - our date to return to dancing is unknown.
12th March 2020
Well, it had to happen eventually, the lousy rainy weather got to everyone. To be fair, there were a few medical issues this week as well. We had 10 dancers through the door.
Not enough for Plus but we did dance 1 square for Mainstream.
Great to have John and Liz with us for the first time this year. John also won the Chocolate.
The Joker draw was held over, no winner and no increrase for next week, it stands at $75.
I did a few request songs and we did finish early.
All those who danced tonight have been offered a free night next time they come.
5th March 2020
Fabulous dance night at Northside. 2 squares for Plus and 3 for Mainstream, 27 dancers through the door. Great to see Heather & Barry for the first time this year and they brought Judy & Theresa from Gumdale with them. Did quite a few requests and some new songs. The heat was a little down, so enthusuasm was way up. Elsa missed picking the Joker and Mayet won the Chocolate. We talked about the panic of the Covid-19 virus and decided that we would not contribute, we danced as usual, with all the usual greetings.
4th March 2020
Margaret has been laid to rest at a really nice service. I estimate 150-160 (maybe more) attendees.
There was a fair representation of Square Dancers & Callers and a very large Family.
From memory, Margaret had 5 Kids, she had 12 Grand Children and 15 Great Grand Children, with 2 more to born before years end.
RIP my good friend (& Surrogate Mum)
Margaret Baines 19-11-38 until 26-2-2020.
27th February 2020
Another good night. Everyone had Margaret in their thoughts, but we all know that she would have wanted the dancing to continue. Afternoon storms ensured that it was still hot & muggy. 2 squares for Plus and 3 for Mainstream - 26 dancers through the door. Thanks Faith, for taking the door at short notice. Also great to have Nev & Noela from The Redlands visiting with us last night. Also good to see Rod & Margaret on the dance floor. Barry missed picking the Joker and Shirley won the chocolates again.
26th February 2020
Our good friend Margaret Baines passed away this afternoon. She will be very much missed by dancers and callers everywhere. I will really miss my travelling companion, we went to lots of dances together over the years.
Her funeral is 2pm, Wednesday the 4th March at Albany Creek.
20th February 2020
Another really hot night, thanks to all the dancers who made the effort to come out. I know the air con at home is very tempting. 23 dancers in the hall. Great to have Mike back on the door.
I tried out quite a few new Singing Calls and a couple of new Hoedowns.
Played with LH Spin Chain Thru quite a bit, dancers had fun.
Desiree missed out on picking the joker, it jackpots to $65 next week. Barry won the Kit-Kat.
We did finish a little early due to the heat. But at least it was dry - no storms and lashing rain.
13th February 2020
Well, it still hasn't stopped raining, but we went ahead any way. Only 18 dancers, but it was a good night.
Still hot & humid. Many of our dancers are away on various Cruises and a couple sick after having been on a cruise, as well as other medical issues. Great to get the first night under our belts.
Plenty of us dressed in red for Valentines day. All Hoedowns and Singing Calls were "Love" related.
Susan Young missed picking the Joker and Shirley won the chocolate.
It's been the strangest start to a SD year ever, first time I've ever had to postpone the first night back.
6th February 2020
It was a washout - The heavens opened and did not stop. By mid afternoon I decided that I didn't want anybody attemping to drive to the dance. I rang everybody on the list to cancel the night. Most felt that it was the best option and were quite relieved. Our hall manger even waived the rent last night, he didn't have to with such short notice. So let's all reset and attempt it again next week. Thank you for your understanding.
